Sporttho / Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

How Sporttho reports, checks and corrects its journalism.

Accuracy

Every Sporttho article is read by a desk editor before publication. Statistics are checked against their original source, and where we rely on a third-party data provider we say so in the text.

Independence

Sporttho writers do not accept gifts, hospitality or payment from clubs, teams, leagues, agents or sponsors they cover. Advertising is sold by a separate team, and advertisers have no influence on editorial decisions.

Sources

We name our sources wherever possible. When a source asks not to be named, an editor must know their identity and agree that anonymity is justified before the material is used.

Opinion and analysis

Analysis explains evidence. Opinion argues a position. Sporttho labels opinion pieces clearly, and the passages headed “The Sporttho view” set out our own judgement separately from the reporting.

Corrections

When Sporttho gets something wrong we fix it promptly and add a dated note at the foot of the article explaining what changed. To request a correction, use the contact page.

Use of AI tools

Sporttho journalism is written and edited by people. Software may be used for transcription and data processing, and never to generate published reporting or quotes.
